The
Moorings Staithes - The cottage is set in an unrivalled
position commanding stunning panoramic views of the charming historic
fishing village of Staithes, small harbour, beach and open sea beyond.
The Moorings is a detached 17th century former fishermans cottage
and has a lovely sun lounge, balcony and patio area all with superb
sea views. It is a unique property which has been renovated, furnished
and equipped to a very high standard and is warm and comfortable
for a holiday at any time of year. There is a cosy second lounge
with a welcoming open fire and exposed beams.
The cottage and its location are well suited to families and also to groups
of walkers. The beach and rock pools are only a few hundred yards
walk from the doorstep.
The
village offers shops, tea rooms, restaurants, pubs and
a museum. (Staithes has links with Captain James Cook). It is a
favourite location for artists. For those who like walking Staithes
is on the route of the Cleveland Way which is directly accessible from
the village. This provides lovely coastal walking or you can go inland
to the North Yorkshire Moors and the beautiful Esk Valley - home
of the Steam Preservation Railway (`Heartbeat' country and the location
for some of the scenes of the Hogwarts Express from the Harry Potter
movies). Staithes is also an excellent base from which to tour the
rest of the Yorkshire coastline, including Whitby which is only
a 20 minute drive away. There`s plenty to do for those who like
an active holiday, alternatively just sit back and relax and enjoy
the wonderful views from the cottage!
